Soldier at the corner of Cotton Avenue and Second Street. The statue was originally put up in 1879 next to the courthouse. It was moved in 1956 to the spot it currently stands at the corner of Second Street and Cotton Avenue. The subject of recent controversy, a proposition currently being considered is to move the statue to Rose Hill Cemetery where it will be surrounded by those who died in the confederate war.
